NILAI: Customs Department officers seized three kg of ketamine worth RM200,000, smuggled in via a courier service, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday.

Department deputy-director (narcotics) Mohd Subri Awang said the drugs had been declared as two boxes of jewellery cases.

"We received a tip-off from our counterparts in Hong Kong before seizing the drugs which arrived via courier service at 9.45pm.

"The drugs were from Mumbai and were meant to be delivered to an address in Kajang, Selangor."

Mohd Subri said the drugs were placed in six jewellery cases which were packed into one box, while the cases in the other box were empty.

He said officers who were sent to the Kajang address found it to be non-existent.

Mohd Subri said syndicates usually used passengers from Mumbai to smuggle in ketamine but they seem to have changed their tactics.

"They normally would stash the drugs in photo albums and computer boxes.

"Anyone with information can contact the department's toll-free line at 1-800-88-8855," he said.
