FOUR years in construction, Chelsea's fortress has been torn asunder this season and Petr Cech has absolutely no idea why. Chelsea have picked up only three wins in nine Premiership matches at Stamford Bridge so far this season and have gained just 13 of their 37 league points in front of their own supporters. They have won in all their eight away games. After going four-odd years unbeaten at the Bridge, the Blues have been turned over twice this season on their own turf, by Liverpool and Arsenal, while Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Newcastle United and West Ham have all escaped with a point. The Hammers, under former Chelsea hero Gianfranco Zola, took a first-half lead on Sunday before being pegged back by another Nicolas Anelka strike. It could have been worse for Chelsea too, as Cech needed to be at full stretch to prevent Carlton Cole from pillaging a late winner. The goalkeeper told The Daily Mail: 'It is disappointing because we have already had two chances to go top. 'We are not able to win at home at the moment. We will try to work it out and now the important Christmas period is coming. We know we have two home games and I hope we are going to get it right. 'It's hard to explain because you can see the effort and the way we try to break the opponents down. The early goal is key. We have been doing that away from home and that has made the games slightly easier.' Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is equally baffled by the Blues' home form. He fears that if it does not improve they can forget about winning the English Premier League title. 'It's difficult to explain what's happened. I am frustrated,' the Blues boss said. 'It's important for us to win at home but now we're playing better away than at home and I need to change this idea. Unbeaten run 'We need to win two or three games here and after this, maybe we'll play the same as in the last five or 10 years,' added Scolari, who in October saw Chelsea surrender their 86-match unbeaten home league record with a 1-0 loss to current table-toppers Liverpool. 'But now all the teams come to Stamford Bridge and play with 10 players within 40 metres. There is no space for my players and sometimes my players need to improve and dribble, try something different. 'At this time, it's difficult for us,' Scolari added. 'Sometimes we don't have the quality to beat the other clubs and we need to accept that.' Chelsea blew their chance to overtake Liverpool at the top of the table on Sunday when they were held by West Ham, currently 16th. Scolari said Chelsea were passing the ball around the midfield but failing to create chances in front of goal. 'After our goal we tried to pressure and open the midfield and play with three strikers. But the strikers are in a line. 'I need to train them more and the players need to understand that three players can play in attack - but not be fixed there. 'They need to come back and work without the ball.' Wire Services
