SHE had been allegedly raped hours earlier and the police were at her flat speaking to her.
When the 17-year-old's father returned home and saw the officers, he was furious.
Station Inspector (SI) Kim Lai Kuan yesterday told the court how the man had entered the bedroom of his flat and angrily asked his daughter: "What did you do? Why are the police here?"
"He was quite harsh and the victim looked scared. She continued crying," said SI Kim.
The father did not know what had happened to his daughter.
The officers took him out and explained that they needed his daughter to help in an investigation.
The teen had allegedly been gang-raped in a Woodlands flat on Boxing Day last year by four young men.
A fifth has been charged with sexually assaulted her.
Lim Boon Tai, 20, Mohamed Firdaus Roslan, 18, Muhammad Shafie Ahmad Abdullah, 19, and Mohd Sadruddin Azman, 19, each face one charge of rape.
Lim and Rishi Mohan, 17, each face one charge of oral sex, and Rishi and Mohamed Firdaus each face one charge of sexual assault.
The court yesterday heard that after the attack between 4am and 6am, she told her boyfriend about the incident. He then called the police and told them she had been molested. This was about three hours after it happened.
Around noon, three police officers turned up at the girl's flat.
The plainclothes officers, which included SI Kim, the only female officer of the trio, are prosecution witnesses in the trial.
SI Kim said that when they arrived, the main gate was locked while the main door was ajar. They identified themselves to the victim's mother and requested to see her.
Without a word, the mother went into the girl's bedroom and took her out. She told the officers that she was in a hurry and left, leaving the gate unlocked.
Dressed in a green-and-black checked long-sleeved shirt and a pair of grey shorts, the girl appeared "depressed".
"She looked upset and seemed to be in a daze," said SI Kim.
The officer later found out that the girl was still wearing the clothes she wore during the attack.
Her shirt and shorts were produced in court yesterday as exhibits.
During the interview, the girl looked distraught.
Her make-up was a mess, her eye make-up smudged with patches of powder on her face.
Her hair was messy and her eyes were puffy from crying, SI Kim said.
Seated on the sofa in the living room, the girl told the officers that she was taken to a unit in Woodlands the night before, and was molested by a few men there.
Justice Chan Seng Onn asked whether the girl said she was molested or raped.
SI Kim replied that the girl did not use the word "rape" when she was in the living room.
When probed about the incident, the girl told SI Kim: "Can I speak to you in private in my bedroom?"
SI Kim told the court: "I assume it was because I'm a female officer."
Inside her bedroom, the girl broke down as she told the officer what had happened.
She said she had received a call from a man named "Jonathan", who asked her to have supper on Christmas night.
She later met another man at Woodlands bus interchange and was taken to a flat in Woodlands.
At the flat, which belongs to Shafie's parents, the girl found out that "Jonathan" was Lim.
She told SI Kim that she played card games with the men and they drank vodka mixed with a soft drink.
The girl felt "sleepy" after drinking at least five cups of the cocktail. They also played "Truth or Dare", and when challenged to kiss Lim, she refused.
When there was a knock on the main door, the girl hid with Lim in a room where he made "sexual advances" towards her.
"She said she was too dizzy and weak to resist, and they had sex," said SI Kim.
After they came out of the living room, the men asked her to enter a bedroom.
The lights were not on and she remembered being pulled onto a mattress and someone saying: "Let's start."
She felt her clothing being removed before she was sexually assaulted, raped and forced to perform oral sex.
SI Kim added: "Then she heard someone say, "She's bleeding', and they stopped."
As the girl was telling SI Kim how Lim took her to the bathroom to "wash up", her father returned home.
When he saw the police, he assumed she had done something wrong and chided her.
The officers then took the girl to the police station, and her father followed them in a taxi.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Gordon Oh told the court on Tuesday that after taking the naked girl to the bathroom to "wash up", Lim raped her on the floor.
In court yesterday afternoon, Lim, Firdaus and Rishi appeared relaxed. They were chatting and smiling occasionally before the hearing started.
Lim and Firdaus are out on $50,000 bail. The others are in remand.
All five are represented by different lawyers. If convicted, each faces up to 20 years in jail, with fine or caning, on each charge.
The trial continues.
