STARK naked, a heavily tattooed man sat on the pavement next to an HDB block as if it was the most natural thing to do.
And, said eyewitnesses, few bothered to react to his indecency. They simply looked away and went about their business.
The incident happened along a walkway outside Block 157, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 around 2pm last Thursday.
Afternoon sun
A passer-by, who gave his name only as Mr Yao, told Lianhe Wanbao that he saw the man, who seemed to be in his 40s, sitting on the pavement, ignoring everyone who walked past.
There were tattoos on his arms, chest and abdomen. He was sitting in the afternoon sun in the same position for about an hour.
Mr Yao said he did not see any items of clothing around him and believed that the man walked there nude from somewhere else.
"Everyone who was at the nearby wet market and coffee shop ignored the naked man. Five teenagers gave him a curious stare before walking away," he said.
Seven policemen were spotted arriving at the scene in two police cars about an hour later.
The police tried persuading the man to get dressed and leave, but the man refused. He was arrested after several warnings.
Mr Yao said he had never seen the naked man in the 20 years he has lived in Ang Mo Kio.He believes the man does not live in the area.
The police are investigating the incident.
