CHELSEA have reportedly agreed a fee with Feyenoord for Dutch youngster Royston Drenthe.

Drenthe, who can play anywhere on the left-hand side, starred as Holland won the European Under-21 Championship last month and has been linked with a host of top clubs, including Real Madrid.

However, it appears Chelsea have won the race for his signature, having had a £6.76 million offer accepted by Feyenoord, according to the The Independent.

The Dutch side is desperate to hold onto Drenthe for one more season, and it is believed the Blues may agree to delay the deal.

Ivan Lim: My colleague Gary Lim watched Drenthe play in Holland during the Euro Under-21 and describes him as 'Edgar Davids with a stepover'. A left-sided player, Drenthe could take over the space vacated at left-wing by Robben's departure as well as provide cover for Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge.
