The New Paper
LOOKING forward to the new season, Joe Morrison is confident that Chelsea will reclaim the title they lost to Manchester United last season.
He said: 'I don't believe that Chelsea will have the same bad luck as they had with injuries last season.
'To lose your first- and second-choice goalkeeper is the worst thing that could happen to any manager.
'What's more, they lost their captain John Terry at a crucial stage of the season.
'But I'm very sure that they will bounce back very strongly this season.'
MAN UTD'S KEY MAN
As for defending champions Man United, Morrison singled out one player who could help them retain their title.
And surprise, it's not Wayne Rooney or Cristiano Ronaldo.
He said: 'I covered the Copa America in the summer. Carlos Tevez was obviously one of the stars for Argentina, but for some strange reasons, the coach decided that he belonged to the bench.
'If Man United can get him, I think they can push Chelsea all the way.'
On Liverpool, he said: 'Liverpool fans will be expecting a lot from their team with the new signings.
'But they have to understand that the new signings need time to settle down. You can't expect them to come in and win the title for Liverpool.'
In Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane, Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe, Tottenham Hotspur have one of the best strike-forces in the Premiership.
But for them to shed their underachievers' tag, Morrison feels they have to find a solution to their erratic away form last season.
He said: 'I thought Martin Jol assembled a decent squad last season.
'While they were pretty strong at home, they were absolutely awful away from home.
'Looking at their acquisitions in the off season, they have no excuse if they don't deliver something this season.'
Among the so-called Big Five, Morrison fears the worst for Arsenal.
He said: 'Beneath the surface, there seems to be a lot of trouble going on at the Emirates Stadium.
'People talk about the loss of Thierry Henry, but personally, I think Arsene Wenger should have let him leave last season.
'He gave absolutely nothing to Arsenal last season.
'Having said that, I don't think Wenger brought in enough players to replace those who have left.
'The Gunners may have a couple of promising young 19-year-olds, but you can't bring in young kids to fill experience.'
