Swab tests: Are they done in food centres?
Sat, Dec 29, 2007
The Straits Times

DO THE authorities carry out swab tests in hawker centres, coffee shops and food courts as they did at PrimaDeli before allowing business to resume there?

It is not uncommon to see:

  • Unhygienic food preparation areas and equipment;

  • Dirty table cleaning cloths, pails and washing water; and

  • Food handlers picking their noses or teeth or scratching their heads in these food centres.

Will the authorities carry out swab tests in hawker centres, coffee shops and food courts to ensure an acceptable hygiene standard?
