IT WAS a huge family row at a board meeting that led Hong Kong property billionaire Walter Kwok to take sudden leave of absence from his company.
Media reports yesterday said Mr Kwok, the CEO of Sun Hung Kai, had clashed bitterly with his brothers at the meeting, prompting their mother to intervene and ask him to take leave and 'take some rest'.
The clash was said to be over the brothers' inability to see eye to eye on business strategies, as well as differences over the role of a woman friend in Mr Kwok's life.
Ms Ida Tong was said to be the woman friend who gave Mr Kwok advice, the South China Morning Post reported, quoting a friend.
'She has no post or title in his company,' the friend said.
Sun Hung Kai had announced Mr Kwok's decision to take leave weeks ago, but it later emerged that the decision came after his clash with his family at the board meeting.
