PONTIAN (JOHOR) - A WOMAN whose remains were found in the trunk of a burnt car last month is believed to have been involved in a baby-selling racket.
The woman, who has a match-making agency in Singapore, is said to have obtained babies from Vietnamese and Indonesian couples.
She purportedly sold the babies to couples in Malaysia and Singapore, sources said.
Police uncovered her activities when conducting investigations into her murder. Two men had been arrested.
The woman usually bought babies born out of wedlock from foreigners in remote estates or settlements, the sources added. Baby boys fetched more than RM5,000 (S$2,200) while baby girls went for about RM4,000.
It was learnt that police were liaising with their counterparts in Singapore to find out more about the racket.
The woman's remains were found in the trunk of a burnt Proton at an oil palm estate in Pontian district on Aug 23.
