BEIJING: Cheers rang out from the crowd around the Bird's Nest Stadium last night, right until Singapore's wheelchair-racer Eric Ting crossed the finishing line.

He was last in his 400m T52 category heat, but, to Ting, 36, it was still an experience of a lifetime - and one that will spur him on to the London Paralympics in 2012.

'I didn't have the perfect race. I was feeling anxious and my arm muscles were cramping before the race, but it's still good to be here,' said Ting.
