'What went wrong?'

MISS KOH SHIN YI: 'Another death in NS. I wonder what went wrong, and I am quite certain, I am not the only one wondering. I am writing from the point of view of a 20-year-old, whose male friends are now mostly in the army. I have a brother who must start his NS within a few years. The men who died were fit, able-bodied men.'

'Why did it take so long to send him to NUH?'

MR KEVIN KOH:

The time taken from Pte Foo's collapse at 6.05am until he was taken to the hospital took an agonising one hour and 40 minutes. Why did it take so long to send him to NUH? A minute gone is a minute lost. I hope Mindef will also review and quicken the escalation and referral process in such cases.'

'NSmen must be trained to look after their health.'

MR FOO HEE YANG: 'My heartfelt condolences to NSman Joe Foo's family and loved ones. I urge all NSmen and future NSmen to check their physical health before they embark on strenuous training. NSmen must be trained to look after their health, including having knowledge of their bodies and the tell-tale signs that they are not fit to train - before they are trained to protect Singapore.'
