Taiwan's MAC chief quits party

TAIPEI: Taiwan's top cross-strait policymaker has parted ways with her pro-independence Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU).

Her resignation came ahead of a visit by China's cross-strait envoy Chen Yunlin.

Ms Lai Shin-yuan, chief of the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), resigned on Monday from the TSU, founded in 2001 by former president Lee Teng-hui.
