THE dramatic actions taken by the United States and Europe to rescue their beleaguered banks have provided the backdrop for sharp rebounds for stock markets across the globe.

For many investors, who have kept hold of their cash, the big question is whether it is safe to jump back in and ride on any recovery.

But one doubt gnaws away: Will this be the biggest trap yet, luring the few remaining bullish investors to their doom?
