Expect smaller bonuses this year

WORRIED about your year-end bonus? You may have good reason.

Last year's bumper payouts will probably not be repeated this year as companies tighten their belts in anticipation of leaner times, say hiring experts and business associations.

Don't hold your breath for them to reappear soon, either. The experts say firms in Singapore are likely to be under continued pressure next year and possibly into 2010 as well.
