No cuts in health-related budgets

BUDGETS for environmental programmes that have an impact on public health will not be affected despite the recession here, Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim said yesterday.

But there may be some belt-tightening when it comes to his ministry's other projects, such as public education programmes on conservation and recycling.

Dr Yaacob, speaking to reporters after a charity run, said he would review his ministry's budget for next year and expects some cuts.
