Brothel boss jailed 2 months
Wed, Oct 29, 2008
The Straits Times

WHEN Chinese national Li Chunmei was convicted of corruption and running a brothel earlier this year, a judge spared the woman a jail term because she had a nine-month-old baby girl to look after.

But yesterday, the High Court reversed that decision, sentencing the 40-year-old to two months behind bars for paying someone else to take the rap for managing the Chinatown bordello. Judge of Appeal V.K. Rajah said a jail term is unlikely to have a profound effect on Li's baby.

Three women were arrested when police raided Mei Yuen Beauty & Therapy at People's Park Centre on Dec 28, 2006. The masseuses admitted to providing sexual services at the premises.
