$8m aid for low-wage union members

THE labour movement is giving $8 million worth of vouchers to help low-income union members pay for transport, utilities and schooling their children.

The giveaway is a sharp increase over previous years.

For instance, the Back to School vouchers total $5 million, double the amount given out last year. Transport and utilities vouchers total $3 million, almost double the $1.6 million available last year.
