A win that inspires the world

By Sim Chi Yin, China Correspondent

BEIJING: All over the world, people popped champagne to toast Mr Barack Obama's victory yesterday but after the first sip, paused and called on him to show leadership in solving urgent global problems.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke for many when he told Mr Obama in a note: 'Your extraordinary journey to the White House will inspire people not only in your country but also around the world.'
