Malls with a heart offer a lifeline

LIFESAVING machines are displayed prominently on several floors in Ngee Ann City shopping mall.

Encased in glass, they come with instructions headlined '7 steps in using AED', short for automated external defibrillators.

Sharp-eyed shoppers have noticed the machines, which are meant for public use to help heart-attack victims.
