Maid abuser jailed

A WOMAN who pinched, slapped and pulled her Indonesian maid's T-shirt was jailed for five weeks yesterday for abuse. A day after she was assaulted, Ms Istikomah, 27, ran away from the flat in Woodlands Drive 50 and sought help with her agency.

The agent reported the abuse to the police on Jan 23. The maid was admitted to hospital for a day with minor bruises and scratch marks.

Her employer, Tay Wan Leng, 41, pleaded guilty to pinching her on the right arm, pulling her shirt and slapping her on the face, back and head several times on Jan 22.It was the second consecutive day that Tay had hurt the maid, who was about two months into her job.
