Well-informed directors needed in times of crisis

A BODY representing company directors here is set for a revamp, in part to help directors hone their skills to cope with challenges, such as those presented by the current financial crisis.

'I think the current financial crisis has revealed that directors have to know and understand a lot more,' said Mr John Lim, president of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID).

He was speaking on the sidelines of a conference held yesterday to announce the findings of a recent study that recommended changes to SID. The proposed revamp includes a better-resourced SID secretariat, including a full-time chief executive and an upgraded website.
