A TURKISH national who spread the word that a plane getting ready for take-off would blow up was yesterday fined $1,000.

Ismet Nurcin, 30, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was also handed down a month in jail on a separate charge of using criminal force on an airport auxiliary police officer in Changi Airport's departure hall on Aug 29.

He paid the fine, but did not have to serve the jail term because it was backdated to Aug 30.
