Target: 7 in 10 public loos to be 'Happy Toilets'

By Ang Yiying & Kimberly Spykerman

THE next time you step into a public loo, you may see 'toilet checkers' at work, peering into toilet bowls with clipboards in hand.

But do not call them that. They are 'certified eco assessors', and their job is to see, among other things, whether the toilet is clean and dry, and that the taps and hand dryers work.

The Restroom Association of Singapore now has a pool of eight such assessors who do these 'audits' with the permission of the toilet owners, who pay an audit fee.
