SINGAPOREAN ABROAD IN KOPAVOGUR WITH... Nurashima Abdul Rashid

Age: 33

Occupation: Pre-school teacher's assistant

Length of stay: 12 years It sounds remote and cold but Iceland packs many natural wonders such as the mesmerising Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, lava fields and geothermal wonders such as hot springs and geysers. Off its shores, whales, dolphins and seals play in their natural environment, and whale-watching tours are popular with tourists.

Pre-school teacher's assistant Nurashima Abdul Rashid, 33, has been living on this island in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean for 12 years with her software development manager husband, Bjarki Sigurgeirsson, 33, and their two daughters - Eva Nadira Bjarkadottir, four, and Tinna Eliza Bjarkadottir, 19 months old.

They live in a town near Reykjavik called Kopavogur, which she describes to be as near each other as Bedok and Tampines.
