JAKARTA: Balls bounced in all directions on the bumpy pitch. A spartan, dilapidated stand served as a barely decent dressing room.

Worse, all the players had in their battle against the dark were two amber lights.

It was not exactly the most ideal of preparations on the eve of their Asean Football Federation Cup title defence.
