Director out to lure Phoenix

Director James Gray wants Joaquin Phoenix, who said in October he was quitting acting, to return to work.

'I'll get him out of retirement, I've got to write a good part,' said Gray. 'I just think he hit a moment where he was bored.'

Gray, who helmed Phoenix's latest movie Two Lovers, said that at the end of making the film, the 34-year-old seemed exhausted. 'He really puts everything into the movie, he becomes that person,' he said.
