Seriously ill patients get to see doctors first

By Lee Hui Chieh

SERIOUSLY unwell patients who turn up at the National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP) now get to see doctors sooner.

Instead of the usual one-hour wait, patients who feel breathless, have chest pains or an extremely high fever need only wait about 15 minutes in the nine polyclinics run by the group.

Those with a high fever - exceeding 38 deg C for children and 39 deg C for adults - areisolated from other patients and attended to separately.
