S'pore to form elite team of cyclists

By Terrence Voon

EIGHT of Singapore's best road cyclists will be hand-picked over the next few months to form an elite team in a bid to boost the talent pool and revive the sport.

OCBC Bank announced yesterday that it would sponsor the training and development of the OCBC Singapore Cycling Team, who are being groomed to challenge for a medal at next year's South-east Asia Games in Laos.

The Singapore Amateur Cycling Association (Saca) and the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) are looking to form the team of eight, who will receive sponsored equipment, apparel and specialised training.
