Hong Kong - A Chinese contestant has alleged that the scandal-hit Asia Television's (ATV) Miss Asia pageant was rigged, saying chunks of votes cast for her went missing.

In a letter sent to ATV's deputy chief executive Yip Ka Po, Ms Wang Yulin (above) from China's Yunnan province said she has records showing she received more than 100,000 votes from supporters in and outside China, but the Hong Kong television company had announced 9,214 votes for her.

The 26-year-old, who was among five mainland Chinese contestants kicked out of the contest before the finals, gave copies of the letter to the media on Tuesday.
