A SCIENTIST here has developed a new drug which may be able to treat diabetes by mimicking the function of insulin.

Like insulin, it helps to 'unlock' cells so that they can absorb glucose and use it for energy.

The drug will be tested on humans for the first time at the National University Hospital (NUH) in the second quarter of next year. It was developed by a scientist from the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Associate Professor Sim Meng Kwoon.
