Les Amis' HK woes

By Wong Ah Yoke, in Hong Kong

Singapore's best known French restaurant Les Amis did not open its first overseas outlet in Hong Kong on Thursday as planned. And when the restaurant does open on Dec 29, the new target date, it will not even be called Les Amis.

Instead, it will operate under a new name, Cepage (say say-parge), a French term that refers to the blend of grapes in a wine.

The new restaurant's woes began about two weeks ago when a bar in Wanchai called Mes Amis sent Les Amis a lawyer's letter objecting to the similarity in their names.
