THE police are investigating the clashes that took place between rival football fans at the National Stadium following Singapore's AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final defeat by Vietnam on Dec 21.

According to eyewitnesses, several Vietnamese fans were hurt in the scuffles that occurred in and around the stadium.

Certis Cisco, one of the agencies providing security for the match, confirmed the incidents. A spokesman said: 'Our officers were vigilant in breaking up skirmishes as soon as they were spotted.'
