SEOUL: South Korea's ruling party leaders agreed yesterday to resume talks with opposition lawmakers who have been staging a week-long sit-in that has paralysed the country's Parliament.

Lawmakers from the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) have hogged the main chamber of Parliament to prevent the ruling Grand National Party (GNP) from forcing through various Bills, including the ratification of a controversial free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States.

Yesterday, the DP responded to the GNP's talk offer by ending its occupation of the Parliament Speaker's office.
