7 new plants to create 2,000 jobs

SEVEN new manufacturing plants are expected to open in Singapore in the next three years, adding some 2,000 jobs to the economy.

Mr Beh Kian Teik, the Economic Development Board's director of biomedical sciences, said despite the economic slowdown, the plants are expected to be on target.

The companies building the plants are Abbott, Lonza, Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, Alcon and Novartis.
