THE former director of City Developments and the Hong Leong Group, Mr Tan I Tong, died on Wednesday at the age of 87.

Having battled lung cancer for six months, he died peacefully, surrounded by family who had flown in from across the world to see him one last time.

'It was a good and beautiful death. We told him that we will take care of our mother,' said his daughter, Ms Tan Siok Sun, 59. She is married to Mr Goh Kian Chee, son of Dr Goh Keng Swee.
