SOME footpaths in Tampines were recently widened to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists, and more would be expanded by the end of March.

The move is part of the town's pilot project to allow cycling on footpaths. The trial, which started in May last year, will end at the end of this month.

While cyclists say riding on footpaths is safer than on the roads, pedestrians have argued that reckless cyclists pose a danger to them.
