S'porean faces terror trial in Jakarta

JAKARTA: A Singaporean terror suspect linked to the killing of two Indonesians and a bomb plot in West Sumatra will face charges here on Monday that could send him to the gallows.

Mohammad Hassan Saynudin alias Fajar Taslim, 35, who is said to be a member of the Singapore chapter of the Jemaah Islamiah terrorist network, was one of 10 men rounded up in South Sumatra in late June.

Fajar Taslim is likely to be slapped with charges under Indonesia's anti-terrorism law, which could see him face the death penalty if he is convicted, his lawyer Asludin Hatjadi told The Straits Times.
