M1 CEO steps down

THE industry veteran who steered MobileOne (M1) to a public listing and helped break SingTel's telecommunications monopoly is quitting at the end of the month.

Mr Neil Montefiore, 56, will step down to 'pursue other personal interests', the company said last night.

An engineer by training with more than 30 years of experience in the telecoms industry, he joined M1 in April 1996 as its chief executive and has been the company's public face ever since.
