Boxing on the lookout for youth

THE last time the National Boxing Championships took place was so long ago that members of the boxing fraternity cannot recall exactly when it happened.

But the past weekend saw the return of the competition, which was organised jointly by the Singapore Amateur Boxing Association (Saba) and the Sembawang Zone 'A' Residents' Committee.

The tournament saw 54 fighters from 10 clubs lacing up their gloves and heading into the ring. It also included eight boxers competing under a new Youth category, the youngest being Muhammad Afiq Basir, 13.
