Lufthansa 'to keep investing in Asia'

DESPITE a slowdown in the global travel industry, German carrier Lufthansa remains committed to Asia and will continue to invest in its business here.

The chairman of its supervisory board, Mr Jurgen Weber, told a gathering organised by the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce yesterday that the company had weathered previous crises and would weather the current one, too.

'We will continue to invest here because the region's potential for growth has not vanished overnight. We have already seen crises in Asia - 1998, 2001 and 2003. But we have always stayed here in confidence,' he said.
