Singapore GP - low demand for rooms

This time last year hotels were fielding daily enquiries on room availability for the Formula One week.

But with the global economy showing little signs of recovery in the near term, the situation is drastically different for this year's night race from Sept 25-27.

'It's been lacklustre, everyone across all industries is cutting back on budgets,' said the assistant vice-president (sales) of a hotel chain, who declined to be named. The prominent group has over 1,000 rooms here.
