BANGKOK - Thai police on the holiday island of Phuket may have averted the killing of another foreigner with the arrest of the suspected hitman allegedly hired by Singaporean Diana Goh Li Fun to kill a Canadian property developer.

The suspect - 29-year-old Somchai Mingjaiyen - had told police his next target was also a Phuket-based foreigner, and he was going to kill him about a month after he killed Francis Alex Degioanni on Feb 19.

The police officer said Somchai's next target, who apparently lives in the central Kathu area between Phuket town and Patong, would not be warned.
