BEIJING: - China's Parliament chief insisted yesterday that Beijing will not copy Western political systems, pressing ahead with a high-level campaign to stamp out calls for political reform.

Mr Wu Bangguo, the second-ranking man in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), even suggested that the Chinese system is superior to Western multi-party democracy.

'Our legislative delegates come from every region, every ethnicity and every walk of life. Even the smallest ethnic minority group has at least one representative,' he said in a speech at the annual parliamentary meetings.
