Crooked bridge still up in the air, says Muhyiddin

MALAYSIA has not made any decision on reviving the so-called crooked bridge project to replace the Malaysian side of the Causeway, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday.

This is the first time a top Malaysian leader has commented on the issue, after some Johor businessmen and an Umno Youth leader called earlier this week for the project to be revived.

Proposed during former premier Mahathir Mohamad's tenure, the S-shaped half-bridge across the Strait of Johor was meant to replace Malaysia's side of the Causeway. It was scrapped three years ago by Tun Dr Mahathir's successor Abdullah Badawi.
