S'pore retains AAA rating from Fitch

GLOBAL ratings agency Fitch Ratings affirmed Singapore's creditworthiness yesterday, retaining its AAA rating.

It cited Singapore's political stability and strong public and external finances, but warned that it was vulnerable to external shocks.

'Singapore's sovereign creditworthiness is underpinned by its strong external finances, solid public finances, stable political situation and flexible government policies,' said Mr Vincent Ho, an associate director of Fitch's Asia Sovereign Ratings group.
