A SELECTION controversy has hit the athletics fraternity ahead of this month's Asian Youth Games.

The father of a runner who was not selected for the June 29-July 7 multi-sport competition has written to the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, questioning the selection of Singapore's sole 400-metre representative.

Ng Foong Chuar, 57, was puzzled that Singapore Sports School's Jared Lim was picked ahead of his son Chin Hui.
