Shanghai - Another Chinese arthouse director is making his transition to commercial films by announcing a wuxia pian (martial arts movie) project.

'Sixth Generation' film-maker Jia Zhangke on Sunday spoke about his upcoming movie at an announcement of a new Chinese film studio on the second day of the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival.

The Hollywood Reporter said the new company, Shanghai Media Asia, is a potentially powerful film-making partnership by film bosses Ren Zhonglun of the Shanghai Film Group, Peter Lam of Hong Kong's Media Asia and Zhang Guoli, China's well-known veteran actor, director and producer who is based in Beijing.
