Insurers go to court over $13m repair bill

A MULTI-MILLION dollar compensation arising from cable tunnelling works in Woodlands has found its way to a Sydney court where insurers fought over who was liable to pay.

The saga began in Singapore when a PowerGrid Singapore construction job was awarded to joint venture firm Obayashi Corporation and McConnell Dowell South East Asia.

The August 2001 deal required the joint venture firm to construct twin power transmission cable tunnels from the Senoko Power Station in Sembawang to Gambas Avenue through Woodlands Avenue 8.
