Report brought back fond memories of dad's 1-room flat
Tue, Jun 30, 2009
The Straits Times

I REFER to the report, 'The perils of growing up in a one-room flat' (June 20). It brought back a lot of memories, mostly good ones.

My father lived the last few years of his life in a one-room flat in Clementi. He was so happy when he received the keys to the rental flat, he called me to tell me about it. He duplicated the keys for all his children.

My dad was a handyman. He proudly renovated the place himself, painting the walls, putting in the floor mat, repairing the tiles and building shelves. We visited him often as he loved company and was proud of his nest. I remember washing his clothes and cooking dinner at his place often and constantly nagging him to eat healthily.
