How you can check if fund-raiser is legitimate

The Straits Times

TO VERIFY the authenticity of a fund-raiser, the public can ask to see a copy of the Collector's Certificate of Authority, says the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

All licensed fund-raising events are issued such a certificate and each individual fund-raiser will carry a copy of the certificate, which bears the group's stamp, details of the fund-raising event and the individual fund-raiser's particulars.

The public can also call the Charity hotline at 6354-8543 or go to the Charity portal at www.charities.gov.sg to check.
